AU Tutoring strives to help students master the basic skills of phonics and word recognition assisting them in gathering meaning from text by connecting what is read and what is already known.  In mathematics students use manipulatives and other tools to better understand math concepts and ideas in order to apply them in practical problem solving situations.

AU offers a program that aligns instruction with Michigan academic standards and curriculum frameworks, and the district’s instructional programs. Specific achievement goals for each student are established based on diagnostic testing and anecdotal information gathered from students, their parents and teachers. We utilize each districts curriculum and textbooks, as well as materials from publishers such as Harcourt and Holt. All work is based on grade level expectations and student availability as identified through a series of pre-assessments and tests to monitor and report student progress. All tutorial lessons will be developed based upon Michigan state standards and frameworks.
